As mentioned in the ‘Biography’ section of my website, because much of my life was spent in rather remote areas in Africa that did not have the benefit of Art Colleges, I turned to nature and books to teach myself drawing, painting, calligraphy and photography.
With the many commitments I’ve had in the last few years, I haven’t had the opportunity to do calligraphy, sketch or paint very much. I’ve missed it, and now try to divide my working time between painting, calligraphy and writing – but I obviously need to re-prioritize this, depending on whether I have an exhibition or deadline to meet.
From still life to wild animals, I find life inspiring, and enjoy capturing it with pastels, watercolours, acrylic, oil colours, clay, wood – or whatever seems best at the time…
